Information regarding travel restrictions, entry requirements, weather advisories, and other factors that may affect your travel plans.

Based on the forecasted weather conditions for the following cities and dates, our scheduled service may be disrupted (flights may be delayed, diverted, and/or canceled):

Thursday-Monday, November 14-18

  • Belize City, BZ (BZE)

Friday-Monday, November 15-18

  • Liberia, CR (LIR)

Customers holding reservations to, from, or through the cities listed above on the corresponding dates who want to alter their travel plans may rebook or travel standby (within 14 days of their original date of travel between the original city pairs and in accordance with our accommodation procedures) without paying additional charges. 

Additionally, if your flight is canceled or significantly delayed by Southwest and you choose to cancel your trip as a result, you may be eligible for a refund for the unused ticket (even if your ticket was non-refundable) and any Optional Travel Charges (such as EarlyBird or Upgraded Boarding) you paid for the flight(s) on which you don’t travel. Operations in and out of Liberia, CR (LIR) may be limited on Friday-Monday, November 15-18 (flights may be delayed and/or canceled). In order to provide our Customers with maximum flexibility, Customers scheduled to travel to/from LIR during this time period may also change their origin/departure to San Jose, CR (SJO), without paying any additional charge. 

Customers who purchased their flights via Southwest.com or our mobile app or by calling Southwest Airlines are eligible to reschedule their travel plans online or from their mobile device.

From November 15 – 18, our digital system will have routine maintenance. Customers flying during this time won’t receive some of our normal flight related pre-trip emails or push notifications. These include reminders about check in, boarding, and more. Customers can still book new flights as usual, and we will send any updates about their current flight status.  

Stay up to date with the latest about your trip with the Southwest app, Southwest.com®, and these helpful tips: 

  • Set an alarm on your phone to check in 24 hours before your flight.
  • Check our Airport Information Page for any disruption information for your specific airports.
  • Day of travel notifications, including Boarding Soon, will be unavailable. Please be present in your gate area before boarding time.
