Nestled next to the winding Cumberland River, visitors to Tennessee’s bustling capital can enjoy waterfront fun with the city’s skyline in view or take to the music-filled streets for a day filled with world-class cuisine, unique cultural sites, and, of course, a bit of honky-tonking.
Whether you’re a little bit country or a little bit rock and roll, you’ll find plenty of sweet-sounding music to enjoy during your stay in the Music City. Most nights you can catch the hottest acts in town at the historic Ryman Auditorium, the famous host of not only the long-running and much-loved Grand Ole Opry program, but everything from rock and jazz groups to musical theater and stand-up comedy. Meanwhile, in the daytime, you can soak in the history of all those sounds made in this city with a visit to the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum or a tour of Music Row, where countless legends have honed their craft and cut their records over the years.
Of course, a trip to Nashville doesn’t have to be all about the music. Head to the downtown neighborhood known simply as The District and you’ll find much more than honky-tonks. Have some of the best Southern barbecue available at one of the neighborhood’s many restaurants—and have it your way with a hand-picked meat and three meal. Then walk off your food coma as you hop from boutique to boutique on the picturesque streets of this charming Southern belle.
Take to the city’s outer neighborhoods to enjoy a slower pace than in the city’s beating heart. Unwind in sprawling Centennial Park and picnic next to a full-scale replica of the Athenian Parthenon that’s certain to impress. Stroll the rolling, tree-lined thoroughfares of the scenic Edgehill neighborhood, and stop off at the stunning Belmont Mansion, the largest house in Tennessee built prior to the Civil War.
No matter your preferred pace of travel, this city’s sure to offer something that’s just your speed.
