Embark on an adventure in the great state of Florida when you visit Tampa, a city known for its beautiful beaches as well as its historical and cultural sites. Getting into the city is a breeze: snag a cab, take a quick ride on public transportation, or use a bus service. After you’ve dropped off your luggage, explore the numerous attractions of downtown Tampa. Start your day with a lovely stroll through the city on the Tampa Riverwalk, a path that stretches for more than two miles and winds along the Hillsborough River.
While on your stroll, stop off and grab a bite from a variety of local restaurants, or cool down with a cocktail at one of Tampa’s eclectic bars or breweries. Check out the Curtis Hixon Waterfront Park, an eight-acre park with a dog run and the Great Lawn (a space for a variety of local performances and programing). If you’re a shopper, explore the charming Hyde Park historical district, full of picturesque tree-lined streets and numerous boutiques. Rent a car and travel along the Craft Beer Trail, a trail that spans from Tarpon Springs to St. Pete—around an hour drive from start to finish. Get a taste of the local craft brewing scene, known for IPAs and unique beers infused with key lime, dragon fruit, and passionfruit.
Another daytrip just outside of Tampa is Canoe Escape, a 16,000-acre wildlife preserve along the Hillsborough River, perfect for a peaceful getaway during which you can relax and unwind while spotting various flora and fauna. For more relaxing spots in Tampa, the many beaches along the Gulf Coast are an obvious choice. Visit Clearwater Beach, one of Tampa’s most popular beaches with soft sand, clear waters, and local seafood restaurants and surf shops. Start a game of sand volleyball with friends or just lay back and soak up the sun.
No matter what you choose to do in Tampa, you’re in for an incredible experience. Hop on the next Southwest flight and get on board for an adventure.
